We begin our excursion with a cup of coffee at Le Chamarel restaurant surrounded by spectacular scenery!
Our new full-day ride grants you access to an exclusive Chamarel estate! If we are lucky and discreet enough, we might get a glimpse of the Java deer. We then visit one of the most beautiful distilleries of the island and learn all about how rum is made. We also get the opportunity to taste some samples, but in moderation! We will also be offered a “special” pineapple tasting session!
We continue our route towards the village of Chamarel, riding through coffee plantations, passing the waterfall and visiting the Seven Coloured Earths where we get to see tortoises and learn how they arrived on the island! After the Fantasy Mountain (240m) downhill, we stop to enjoy lunch at a typical restaurant located in the small village of Baie du Cap. Our table is set up under a magnificent tree (weather permitting); where we take the time to admire the sumptuous view of the lagoon and capture great shots before enjoying a delicious meal.
With our bellies full, we visit some historical sites along the coastal route. On our way towards Bel Ombre, we have a lot of fun riding along the small sandy roads! Our excursion is now nearing its end; we stop over at the Château de Bel Ombre – an elegant 19th-century colonial manor! The setting of this private estate will simply take your breath away. It is also the home to the one-and-only seashell museum found in the Indian Ocean where you will be able to discover over 1800 listed species of shellfish!
It is on this joyful note that our ride finally comes to an end at the Bel Ombre Sugar Estate.
